Its time has come, again, and there is no looking back. Once relegated to your grandfather’s drink or the libation of stuffed shirts, the cocktail has made a resurgence the last few years. Hip, cool, there are even cocktail specialists (mixologists - snazzy!).
The Los Angeles International Spirits Competition recognizes the finest in spirits, flavored and not, mixed and straight up. Celebrating its eleventh year, this budding yet distinguished event rivals senior contests with a cutting edge judging panel comprised of the discerning palates of mixologists, spirits journalists, esteemed bar owners and educators.
The eleventh annual spirits judging takes place May 9-10. That’s right around the corner. Have you entered? Don’t hesitate. Early bird registration deadline is March 31 (early bird entry fee $300; $310 after March 31). Final deadline for entries is April 15, 2017.
Beginning with Tequilas in 2007 and opened to all distilled beverages in 2010, more than 400 of the world's best vodkas, tequilas, gins, rums, mescals, whiskeys and mixers were tasted last year, with judges giving the Best of Show to Dictador 20 Year Old Solera System Rum 96 points and the Best of Show mixers to Pacific Pickle Works - Asparagusto 94 points.
The spirit competition partners with the renowned wine competition each spring. For 77 years, our wine competition has showcased the finest vintages from countries throughout the world, and illustrated time and again why the Los Angeles International Wine Competition is considered one of the most prestigious. Our rich history is a strong foundation upon which we are building with greater consumer outreach. We look forward to your participation in this great event.
The Los Angeles County Fair Association guarantees greater exposure for the event’s winning entries offering consumers access to some of the world’s finest wines, extra virgin olive oils and the wide world of spirits.
