Organizational Structure
A Board of Directors governs the Child Development Center. The Board is made up of volunteer community leaders, center parents, and staff representatives from the University of La Verne and the Los Angeles County Fair Association. The Child Development Center is licensed through the Dept of Social Services/Community Care Licensing (Title 22) and the Calif. Dept. of Education (Title 5).

The Child Development Center is a non-profit 501c(3) status. All donations made to the Child Development Center are tax deductible. We actively pursue additional funding support through our community partnerships, state, federal and private foundation grants and private donations.

Staff Qualifications
The L. A. County Fair Association employs the majority of our staff. Teachers must have a valid Child Development Center Permit issued through the Calif. Dept. of Education. All Associate Teachers are required to have a minimum of 12 college level units in Early Childhood Education and hold a valid Children Center Permit. Teacher Assistants are required to complete training in child development with 6 units of Early Childhood Development through staff development, ROP or other in-service training. Teachers and Associate Teachers working in the Infant/Toddler classrooms must have completed additional 6 units in Infant/Toddler development. In addition, all Teachers/ Associate must hold current CPR and First Aide certification and complete 15 hours of Health and Safety training.

All staff and substitutes are required to have a clear criminal clearance from the Department of Justice and the F.B.I., a background check, and a personal reference prior to employment. In the event they may have a minor legal indiscretion, the Dept. of Social Services may grant an exemption for the clearance.

All full time Center staff has the opportunity to continue their education in Child Development and Human Development through the University of La Verne. With full grants provided by the University Education Department, this represents an extraordinary benefit for our staff. In-service training, workshops and staff meetings are an important component of the center’s on-going staff development program. Active learning opportunities are provided for our staff to continue improvements of our program and to remain abreast of current Child and Human Development research. The center schedules (4) in-service days per year, when the center is closed. These days are included on the school calendar, which is available at the front office.
