The Fairplex Child Development Center’s Endowment Fund, developed to secure the future of the early childhood program, received a generous boost with a donation of $750,000. The anonymous donor is hoping others will join in the giving, by matching the gift in part or in whole.
“We’re so pleased and grateful to be the recipient of such a charitable donation,” said Janet Paulson, chairperson of the Fairplex Child Development Center Foundation. “And since the donor is encouraging others to match the gift, well, that is an added bonus.”
The endowment now totals just over $1 million. It was established in 2002, laying a foundation for the center’s future. While donations given to the center during year-round fund-raisers such as the annual CDC auction held during the L.A. County Fair are used for daily operational costs, the endowment fund addresses the center’s ongoing needs. Tax-deductible gifts help ensure that the center continues to provide quality, developmentally appropriate programs for future generations of children and their families.
“This gift to the center speaks volumes. The donor not only believes in the quality of care currently provided to children and their families, but knows that the center will continue to provide that exceptional care for generations to come,” said Susan Dowler, Fairplex director of development.
Whether it is in the form of cash, a funded scholarship, an annuity, a trust, a life insurance policy or a simple bequest, participation in the endowment fund will make a difference in the lives of children to come.
