CHINO HONORS ITS COMMUNITY HEROES AT THE L.A. COUNTY FAIR
Chino Day is Sept. 18

The L.A. County Fair honors Community Heroes – seniors, adults and young adults – from 19 surrounding Inland Valley cities during the 23 days of the Fair, Sept. 5 – Oct. 4. Friday, Sept. 18 is Chino Day at the L.A. County Fair, a day to celebrate Chino volunteers, humanitarians, students, neighbors and community organizations working to make their city a better place to live for everyone.

Fair festivities for Chino Day at the Fair include a 5 p.m. parade down Broadway and a presentation on the Pepper Street Stage honoring Chino community heroes.

Taking a prominent place in the parade is Patrick Rodriguez, Chino’s 2009 young adult community hero, described as “an excellent role model for young people.” Patrick is a member of the Chino Teen Advisory Committee, Chino High School Key Club and the Healthy Chino program while being “a dedicated student, outstanding volunteer and a very friendly young man.”

Joining Patrick in the community parade and on the hero’s stage is Marshall Evans, Chino’s adult community hero, so named because he “makes himself available to anyone in the community that needs help.” Marshall volunteers for Junior Varsity girls’ basketball, Coach Youth Accountability Board, Chino Kiwanis Club, Chino Youth Museum fundraisers and the Chino Police Department’s “Every 15 Minutes” program. He was named 2008 Chino Citizen of the Year.

Chino residents, friends, family and supporters can join their community celebration at a reduced admission price! Visit your Chamber of Commerce, City Hall and other community locations for a buy-one-get-one-free admission coupon good for Friday, Sept. 18. Come for the Fair; stay for the community festivities: parade at 5 p.m. and hero presentation at 5:30 p.m.

The L.A. County Fair continues Wednesday – Sunday through Oct. 4, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Live thoroughbred horse racing Sept. 10 – 28, dark Mondays Sept. 14 and 21 and Tuesdays. For information on ways to save at the Fair, visit lacountyfair.com.
